The Sydney Children’s Hospital (SCH) HIV service are very excited to join the ASHM-IUSTI conference for 2024. 

This Paediatric Special Theme Day will focus on the prevention and treatment of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C in infants, children and adolescents, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region. 

Up-to-date research, implementation science and clinical management will be delivered from presenters from Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific, with an international Keynote speaker.   

Keynote Speakers

Michael Marks

Professor of Medicine at London School of Hygiene& Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)

Michael Marks is Professor of Medicine at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and an Honorary Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, University College London Hospital. Professor Marks will bring his vast experience across STI and syphilis prevention, testing, and management to address the concerning rise in syphilis cases worldwide in a presentation on Congenital syphilis.  


Thanyawee Puthanakit

Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand 

Thanyawee Puthanakit, MD, MHS is a professor of pediatric infectious disease specialist at Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. She is a leader in pediatric HIV treatment and care in Asia. She has experienced conducting research in Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines including collaborates with TREAT Asia research program. Her research focuses on pediatric and adolescent HIV treatment and elimination of perinatal HIV transmission and reduction in new cases of adolescent infection. She has published more than 200 publications. She serves as scientific committee for PENTA-ID Network and active committee member of the International AIDS Society.

Low Middle Income Countries that are eligible for the Low Middle Income Country Registration Rates are those countries that are considered Low Income Economies and Lower-Middle Income Economies by the World Bank. Upper-Middle Income and High Income Economies are not eligible for this rate.
